We make a very special and exclusive range of vintage styleAlpaca coat on Alexander and modern Alpaca Barnabybabyclothes in the finest alpaca wool.  Baby and young alpaca fleece spins into delightfully soft, silky baby wool with a beautiful sheen. Once knitted into delicate little garments based on vintage styles, they make an unforgettable gift for that precious new arrival or a special christening present.

Most of the wool we use is 4ply and double knitting alpaca and supplied by our own herd, usually cria fleece (baby alpaca), which is spun at a mini mill in the UK. Alpaca is incredibly soft, silky and light.  It will keep baby warm in the coldest weather and cool in the warmest – it has excellent thermal properties and is light and non-allergenic to delicate skin.  Alpaca does not contain lanolin or any other oil, nor finishing substance, but is incredibly strong and hard wearing. These garments will hand down for generations and get softer as the years pass! There are over 22 different natural shades, but we use mainly white, cream or champagne.  White alpaca can be dyed successfully, you will find some delicate pastel shades have been used for some of the garments for sale. It is suggested that each garment is washed by hand.  A care card will be provided, with all orders of individual garments or wool, and tips on knitting successfully with this very special wool.
