Patons SC6: I do love these collections brought out by Patons and Baldwin over the years, so popular that they were often reprinted. This one is from 1950's and is one of my favourites. *Patons SC27. Lovely vintage knitting pattern from the Silver series printed in the 1960s. This one is lovely with 6 items to knit all stunning in style and easy to knit. Designed by Carmen Castresana from Spain. Real retro continental style from the 60's. Knitted in vintage baby wool which was nearer modern 4ply than 3ply. Work a tension square and change needles or yarn if needed. If you would like them to be a bit smaller use modern 3ply as they are knitted on rather small needles as it is. Some have fuzzy wuzzy (angora) trim which can be exchanged for ordinary wool. But I do have some odd balls of vintage angora in blues, aquas, pinks, and yellows if you would like to add a bit of luxuary to the garments. patons 246: Lovely vintage knitting pattern from the Silver series printed in the 1950s and 1960s. This one is for pretty pramset with a touch of simple colour at edge of coat  and bonnet brim(can be omitted) you can have the helmet or bonnet, both instructions included, as well as mittens and leggings. The pattern is created by running embroidery thread through top stitches once garment is completed, very simple but pretty effect (Swiss Darning) Worked in vintage 4ply, work a tension square and see if modern baby double knitting works better or use modern 4ply (modern 3ply on size 11 (3mm) will give a smaller size. *Patons 250: Very pretty vintage knitting pattern from the 1950s from the famous silver series of patterns. This one is for two little spanish creations, so pretty and so unusual. To fit 18" chest. Worked in vintage 2ply so try modern 3ply for better fit, and try modern 2ply for a smaller size. Theses are so delicate and retro any baby would feel so pleased - dont the pictures just show that! Easy to knit and quick even though on fine needles and in fine delicate wool. I made several of these for my own daughters and quite a lot since for other people - I will make some to put on my baby clothes pages I think, having re-found the pattern. Pattern is clean, just a few serface marks.

*Patons 268G: Another of these little gems, this time from the late 1940s. This is for an all in one overall suit. What we might call a babygrow now! To fit 20" chest if worked in modern 4ply, try modern 3ply for a smaller fit, if making for younger baby make legs and sleeves a little shorter. Under arm seam is 6" and inside leg is 8" can be worked with feet or with out. These can easily be shortened or if needed made longer. Has sweet little collar and tie at waist. Although shown as the silver, the one I have left is actually gold edged, a little scuffed but sound and clean.

*Patons 622-3: This lovely little silver pattern from the late 1950s has the same number as the above, but is a very different pattern. This often happened with Patons patterns.  This one is for two little woollies for baby. A cardigan with lacy borders and matinee in simple stocking stitch with broken basket stitch at the yoke. You could embroider little flowers down the edges if desired - I did this for my daughter in the mid 1960's (she is 45 now!) and threaded contrast ribbon through the lace up the front of the cardigan - just for change! Worked in quickerknit, a yarn between double knitting and 4ply, which is no longer made - although I have been told it can be bought occassionally, but try a tension square with modern 4ply and change needles, or double knitting and change needles. Pattern in good condition.

Patons 687 Booklet.  Stunning Australian booklet with fabulous layettes and shawls. Two complete layettes including vest and shawls knitted and a crochet shawl, matinee in crochet. *Patons 716: Great little vintage baby knitting pattern from early 1950s for two pramsets for older babies. Knitted in vintage 4ply so may well knit up better in modern baby double knitting, work tension square to check, maybe just a change of needles will work. To fit 15 months to 2 years - the one at the top with kitten ear bonnet (which they refer to as a jester hat), coat and legging with spat tops. (20-22inch chest) The other one at the bottom of photo is 9-15 months to fit 22" chest. This one has a Dutch bonnet and leggings. Pattern in good condition.

Patons 717: A layette, featured on television, designed by James Norbury, Patons cheif designer in the 1950's. *Patons 771: Great little silver vintage pattern for Patons - I remember these so well! This one is from the 1950s and is for two matinee coats, a double breasted jacket and a zip jacket with a pretty yoke. To fit 20 inches for the two cardigan/jackets and 19-21 for the matinee coats. These are worked in 4ply for the jackets and 3ply for the matinee coats. Work a tension square to see if you need to change needles for these to get the correct measurments. Pattern in very good condition.

Patons 1075:  Another Spanish trio designed by Carmen Castresana.  Worked in3ply, the little cardigan has ribbons at the wrist  and the matinee has ribbon threaded through the yoke.  The ribben decorated hooded jacket is knitted in garter stitch and is so easy to make. Pure retro chic. Pattern is a little worn with minor damage to spine, clean and sound.

Patons 1314: Brushed (using a teasel brush) pram set in double knitting.  This only really works if you use pure wool or ready brushed yarn. Hooded duffle coat, leggings and blanket.  Knitting this in pure wool, then brushing gives a dense warm fabric that washes well, by hand unless using modern machine washable wool Pattern is from the late 1950's and is in good condition, with just a little wear to edges.
