Robin 392: Beautiful vintage knitting pattern from 1957 for three little jackets for baby.  Knitted in a form of 4ply, so work a tension square and see if you need to use modern 3ply or 4ply as this was a tighly twisted yarn with a sheen - very pretty, I used it a lot in the 1960's. From the tension instructions it appears to knit to modern 4ply, but check your own tension. Sizes range from 17"-19" chest.

Button up jacket with collar, pullups with pom-poms, mittens witth same pom-poms and a little kitten hood ( you could always put pom-poms on the ears -points). Knitted in a quick kniting yarn, probably the same as baby double knitting by the needles sizes, so try modern double knitting or sown size needles and work in 4ply for a size smaller. You could always just knit the jacket and cute little bonnet! Try 3ply and 12 and 11 needles for new born size.

Lovely matinee coat, long sleeve vest and button front pilch, very pretty easy to knit dress set with embroudery (can be ommited), see bleow, also a cardigan to match the dress, jacket and bootees, the double breasted cardigan on the front cover vest and pilch for 6 months, easy to knit pram set, a dear little wind cheater (cross over, sleeveles top) and a pram blanket with embroiderd motifs if required. And the inevitable shawl pattern. All but the pram blanket knitted in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply. (pram set in vintage 4ply, so modern baby double knitting) 28 pages.

Knitted in vintage 2ply so modern 3ply will be best, to fit 19" chest, the shawl measures47" square, the pattern can be purchased seperately for the shawl. There are instruction for a long robe 27" or a short dress 15", or you can knit what ever length desired, but remember if you make it longer you will need more wool. Sirdar 298: This fabulous vintage knitting pattern for baby layette is so pretty and easy to knit in vintage 3ply. This pattern was also issued in a doll version, see doll pages under Sirdar. This pattern will fit birth to 3 months and 6/9 months. If you would like it to fit a tiny newborn then adjust needles to make a smaller size. Make a tension square to see if you need to change ply to modern 4ply or just change needle size. I made this for my second daughter in 1970 and for my other daughter's doll as a baby gift.
