Nice easy pattern great for beginners who want a little bit of a challenge. Knitted in cotton, probably 40 count but try tension square to see if 20 will work as this is more readily available - it is worked on quite a fine hook 13 and 11 imperial so probably similar to 3ply yarn would have been used.
