Penelope M1292: Lovely vintage 1940s knitting pattern for cardigan, buttons made from crochet, very pretty pattern. To fit bust 30". Up the size of needles to get a larger size, but remember to allow for more wool, worked in vintage 3ply so try nmodern 4ply or this size or double knitting for a 32" nice easy effective pattern.

Penelope 1298: Great vintage knitting pattern for ladies jumper with short sleeves and neck bow, very retro! 1940's at its best, even in  a stunning green so popular now in 2009, nearly 70 years later. ALWAYS KNIT A TENSION SQUARE To fit 32"-34" bust knitted in a vintage 3ply, so would work in modern 4ply and possible if knitted on 10's and 8's (imperial size- old) needles it would be a size bigger. Fancy rib design. Pattern in great condition.

Pennine 772: Classic stocking stitch sweater with small roll neck collar and batwings, so very 1950's! Knitted in vintage 3ply, try tension square as modern 4ply may well work. Bust sizes 34"-36" and 38"-40". Always allow extra wool for different ply. Rember there are approx 28gms to the oz. Very easy pattern to knit.

*Robin 37L: Great ladies vintage cardigan knitting pattern 1930s. This design has a lovely collar - this style was to reoccur in the 1950s. The crisp cables and low buttoned front are so stylish. The ply is not given, but by the size of needles imperial 9 and 6 (3.75 and 5mm)and the design I would suggest using a thick double knitting or aran weight in a tension square changeing needles to get the correct tension.Strangely enough there is no tension guide or size on this early pattern. I would guess at a meduim size - so do a tension square in your chosen wool and change needles until you get the size you want!

Robin 247: Great vintage knitting pattern ladies summer tops early 1950s. Great for those warmer days ahead, one with little cap sleeves the other sleeveless with picot edging. Both are in 3 sizes 32"-36" bust. Worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed.

Robin 306: Classic short sleeved jumper with fair isle bands, great retro look. See other FAIR ISLE patterns on FAIR ISLE pages. This one is knitted in 3ply, so adjust needles and wool if necessary to get size required. To fit bust 33-35 inch bust (4ply on a zsize larger needles will give you a more generous 36" bust - but work a tnison square first as everyone knits at a different tension as do yarns and needles. This is so easy as the width is changed by using bigger needles with the same no of stitches - no incresing or decreasing. Pattern in great condition.

Robin 310: Great vintage summer top in different colour bands with a lacy pattern, very pretty. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply, adjust needles if needed. To fit  34" bust, use 12 and 10 for slightly bigger size. sleeves can easily be made a bit shorter and also this can be made into a crop top easily by starting with the lemon (Cream) band. 1950's pattern, in good condition with smal peice missing form top corner as shown in picture.

Robin 379: Great vintage 1950s knitting pattern for alight lacy summer top in vintage 2ply, so try modrn 3ply (see links page for suppliers of modern 3ply in a variety of adult colours, including this olive green) Great styling with deep welt and slash neck line. To fit 34"-36" bust. Lovely colour photos on the back of other pattens that were available at the time.

Robin390: Great vintage 1950s twinset in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply for sizes stated and modern 3ply for smaller or double knitting for larger. If you use double knitting remember it will need more wool at least 50% more. To fit 36"-38" and 40"-42" bust. Pattern in very nice condition, small coloured pencil mark to the right top corner of cover, otherwise clean and sound.

Robin 412: Lovely vintage knitting pattern for summer top with that retro look. This pattern in from the early 1950s, very easy to knit. Worked in vintage 2ply so try modern 3ply or 4ply in a tension square to see which will work better for you. Remember this should be a light airy fabric, so make sure that the needles are large enough to create a soft pliable fabric in your tension square. Robin 439: Pretty vintage knitting pattern for slipover (tank top) from early 1950s. Knitted in Nylona Multiply, no longer available, which I believe was a type of modern 4ply. Work a tension square on the large needles 10s (3.25mm) to get 8 stitches to the inch over stocking stitch. Change needles if needed to get tension correct. To fit 32" - 34" bust. Try larger needles to get a bigger size, but allow al ittle more wool if you do this. The back and the front are worked the same, but the front has the contrast made by darning stitches along the criss-cross design.

Robin 555L: Fabulous vintage ladies knitting pattern summer top 1950s. This is so delicate and sweet, great for wam summer evenings - knitted in vintage 2ply so try modern 3ply in a delicate pastel shade - supper with summer skirts or jeans. To fit 32-34, 34-36, 36-38 inch bust. Simple crochet at neck and armhole, but you could work a picot edging if you don't crochet. Pattern is in great condition.

Knitted in vintage 2ply which will be the same as modern 3ply, see links and friends page for stockists of a great range of modern 3ply in adult colours and pastels - BSK- This little top is to fit 32"-34" bust knit in 4ply to get a large size or up the size of needles. Please wotk a tenison square before starting as all vintage yarns and needles are different rom those used to day, but it is easy to subsititute modern yarn and needles and get a good result. Robin 666: Another lovely Robin pattern from the 1950s. To fit 32-36inch bust again in the Nylona multiply no longer available, but I believe this was similar to modern 4ply. Work a tension square to see if you can work it in modern 4ply with a change of needles if needed tension is 8 stitches and 9 rows over stocking stitch with number 11 imperials or 3mm modern needles. The decoration is sequines but can be replaced by decorative period buttons if liked.

Robin 668: Fabulous ladies vintage knitting twinset summer top and cardigan. 1950s, very retro this one and super colour. Worlked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply as this is nearer to the yarn used originally. to fit bust 30"-38" in 3 sizes. The little jumper has pretty peaked neck line and lovely sleeves, one of my favourites.Pattern in great condition.

*Robin 674L: Great ladies vintage knitting pattern 1950s jacket. This design was so popular in the 1950s and being knitted entirely in stocking stitch is easy to work, and being double knitting yarn also quicker than you might think. Well worth a try this one. In 34-36 and 36-38 inch bust. Raglan and three quarter sleeves, great for the autumn or spring, with large pockets and big buttons - fab! There is a small crease at the bottom of pattern and a little tear, otherwise in nice condition.

Robin 763: Fantastic vintage pattern, knitted in double knitting, so no conversions here, however still try a tension square to see if you need to change needles size as everyones tension differs. This little short waist jacket is so fashionable just now, great with jeans or a skirt. To fit 32", 34" and 36" bust. 1957 Remember 1oz equals approx 29gms when working out how much wool you will need - always allow a little extra. Pattern in great condition.

Robin 767: Great vintage knitting pattern  from 1960 for  simple to knit twinset on classic lines, deep welt and slender fit. Knitted  in 4ply, knit a tension square to see if you need to change needles. By the 1960s yarns were similar to todays, but there were variations as there is in the market now - so always check tension vintage or modern! To fit bust 32"-38" in 4 sizes. Great all round pattern. Clean apart from a couple of small storage marks on back page.

*Robin 769L: Pretty vintage ladies summer top knitting pattern 1950s. Very easy to knit summer top with collar and deep welt, little cap sleeves. Robin Perle was a type of tightly twisted 4ply, so work a tension square in modern 4ply and change needles if needed to gt the correct tension - 8.5 stitches and 10.5 rows to the inch on size 12 (2.75mm)needles. To fit  32/34/36 inch bust. Pattern is in good condition with faint shop stamp to front.

Robin 799: Vintage ladies knitting pattern for very elegant suit, with jumper that buttons almost all the way down, knitted in vintage 4ply work a tension square to see if needles or ply need to be changed to get the correct size. 1950's Pattern is worn and has creases, brown mark where old  peice of tape to back page has been removed, not near instructions. Slightly discoloured with age.

Robin 836: Fabulous 1950's pattern for a sweater and stole originally knitted in wool/mohair yarn called Shaggy Darling. Try modern mix or 4ply, Work a tension square in the yarn that you choose, adjust the needle size until you gain the required tension. To give a light airy fabric large needles have been used on the main part imperial 5 (6mm) Bust size 43"-38".

Robin 923: Vintage 1950's tie bolero with three-quarter length sleeves knitted in mohair/wool mix.  Although Shaggy Darling is no longer available there are other mohair/wool (synthetic) mixes around that will work just as well, but do work a tension square first to make sure you use the right needles to get the correct size. Great retro chic for evening wear, looks great with sparkly jewelery or pearls! fake or real!  Very quick to knit as it is knitted on big needless for a light airy look and soft feel.

Robin 1041: Another great winter jumper, great with jeans or slacks. From the late 1950's this thick doubel knitting pattern is for 34", 36" and 38"  bust. Knitted on large needles imperial 3 and 5 (6.5mm and 6mm)This wool was thicker than modern double knitting, but not as thick as modern chunky, an aran weight may well suit this pattern, try a tension square first.

Robin 1269: Vintage 1960s knitting pattern for jacket with cable detail, very nice! Knitted in a light chunky or aran weight wool, always work a tension square, knitted on old imperial 4 (6mm) and 7s (4.5mm). Nice and warm. Pattern in good vintage condition with some wearto edges an minor crease to bottom right corner. Clean and sound.

Robin 1271: Great vintage knitting pattern from the trendy 1960s - I made lot of these for my Mum and sisters during that decade! Knitted in vintage 3ply, as there are more colours to choose from in modern 4ply, try this in a tension square and change needles if needed top get tension correct for size required. To fit bust 34"-38". Great summer holiday knit! Sit on the beach and keep those fingers busy! pattern has a fient crease to side and a trade stamp to front, minor nick to bottom edge but is clean and sound.

Robin 1971L: Great vintage ladies waistcoat knitting pattern 1970s. This very retro 70's pattern has also instuctions for a middi top waistcoat style as well, to fit 32-40 inch bust. Knitted double knitting, always work a tenison square and adjust needles if needed to get the correct size. The balls refered to in this pattern are 1oz (approx30g) Pattern is in good used condition, but there is a biro scrubble in one corner of a page, and general wear.

*Sentinel 152: Blousette: Great vintage ladies blouse knitting pattern 1940s. These blousettes or fronts were very popular to wear with suits in the austerity years during and following the war. You did not have to knit back or sleeves, so saved money and if you kept your jacket on no one was the wiser - no central heating on trains, buses or offices in those days, let alone homes! Length adjustable, no bust size needed as it is only a front! I have an original front like this in my collection of ladies clothing from the first half of the 20th Century knitted in silk. I have more of these patterns I just need to find them - they really are useful and great at reinactment meeting or stage productions

*Sentinel 152: Fair Isle collar and cuffs: Great vintage collar and cuff knitting pattern 1940s. This was another money saving idea during the austerity years. Just a an ounce or two of spare yarn and a dress or jumper was renewed in an evening. This is for set in vintage 3ply to produce a fair isle design, but they could be knitted in angora or any 4ply modren yarn - even a fancy yarn! Makes a change from crochet sets.

Sentinel 486: Great vintage knitting pattern from the 1930's for a classic cardigan and jumper set. Knitted in vintage 3ply so will be modern 4ply. The jumper has short sleeves and an interesteing tab detail at the square neckline. to fit 32" bust so up the size of needles or knit in double knitting to get a bigger size, but dont for get to get extra wool. The leaf pattern is easy to knit, this smart little set is so very retro, great for murder mystery weekends if you are an Agatha Christie fan!

Shaw FLX402: Great little pattern from the 1950's for  short sleeve jumper for those early autumn days with colour panel down front. To fit Bust 34"-36" vintage 3ply is used. Work a tension square to see if a change of needles or indeed ply might give a better fit. Pattern is in good condition.
