Bairnswear 1542: Great vintage knitting pattern for baby blanket from the 1960's worked in chunky knit yarn that knits 8st and 11 rows to 3 inches on imperial 000 or metric 10mm (very thick needles) Blanket measures 22-23 inches in length width and 25-26 inches in length (adjustable). Very easy to knit. One has a little dog worked in it (chart included) or just knit plain and embroider on afterwards, the other one has ribbon sewn to eadge in pleats. There are instructions for a crochet cover in sqaures, a little pram blanket and a pretty shawl, also availael seperately, see below. The crochet one can be made any size you like, but suggest a cot size one of 33 inches by 65 inches. The Pram rug is 36 inches by 26 inches and is so easy to knit in vintage 3ply, so try using modern 4ply. The brushed rug is accomplished by brushing, after working with a teazal brush (available from a craft shop or from us). Golden Eagle 983: Great vintage knitting pattern for baby blanket in blanket wool, from the early 1950s. Looking at the needle size probably a very chunky yarn - tension is 3 stitches to an inch on imperial no2, (metric 7mm.) The pattern recommends 34 oz which is roughly 21 x 50g balls of thick chunky wool. The measurements are 33" x 48" for the cot size and 30" x 25 " for the pram using 16oz (10 x 50g balls). *H&O S106: Very Pretty vintagebaby shawl knitting pattern 1940s. This one was produced by quite a few pattern suppliers over the years, really traditional shetland style. The finished shawl measures 60 inches square. It takes 8oz (250g approx) to knit and shetland lace weight is suggested, if you cannot get this, try modern 2ply in a tension square and change needles to get the required tension. It is knitted on large needles for the ply to create the light airy softness of this beautiful shawl.
