*Bairnswear 175: Great vintage knitting pattern for toys from the 1930's. There are instructions for a quirky ostritch, who is about 15 inches tall, a great golly 17 inches, a fabulous elephant who measures 14 inches long, a madarin doll who measures 7.5 inches all knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply and a monkey knitted in angora and vintage 3ply. There is also a little clown doll made from folding wool who measures 10 inches. The ostritch is made from pop-poms and pipe cleaners. Pattern is creased across the centre and has wear to the edges, but is sound and clean.

Bairnswear 1354: Great vintage toy knitting pattern from the 1940's, a golly, duck and shaggy dog, knitted in 3ply and 4ply. The dog measures 10" nose to tail, the golly is 17" tall, the duckling has no measurements. Pattern in good order, with smal tear at on edge clean no knitters marks or stains.

Bestway 822: Vintage toy knitting pattern for a really cute black faced lamb. She will measure 11.5" tall and 8.75" from head to tail. She has been knitted in asrakan fancy wool, there are several about at the moment that will work, try to get a modern 4ply version as this little lamb is knitted in vintage 3ply, this will translate better to modern 4ply, try a tension square with chosen fancy yarn. 1940's original pattern is a little worn and fades with fient crease but sound.

Bestway 1578: fabulous rare vintage wartime toy pattern for knitted dolls, some pen marks to front, but clean and sound - remarkable considering the delicate paper used in times of war economy. The dolls are simply made by folding skeins of wool then tying them in places to make arms, legs and head and the clothes are all knitted - we all did this at school in the 40's and 50's!

Here are a fun group from the early 1950's, a colour version of an earlier pattern. There is a rabbit, teddy, cat, doll and a clown all knitted in double knitting and take just over 50gs of wool each - great for the charity bazaar or church fete or those gift boxes at Christmas. The toys measure 10.5" when stuffed. if you want smaller toys knit in a finer ply on smaller needles. Pattern is a little worn, but sound and clean.

Copley 406: Vintage toy knitting pattern with instructions for coloured ball, dog, rabbit and doll in DK yarns. Early 1960's Ball is a large pom-pom, the Doll has a plastic mask as a face, can be bough at some craft stores, or embroider on when finished. No sizes given. Pattern in great condition. *Cut Woolly Toys: This is a fabulous book with 11 different animals to make by creating pom-poms and trimming them into shape. From 1956 these beautiful little animals are fun to create and you don't have to be able to knit. They are made from double knitting wool, as well as finer 4ply or 3ply only in the Lion is wire used as he needs to stand on his legs but the thick binding cord can be used double, glass eyes and horse hair are suggested for whiskers, but modern whiskers and plastic eyes are available from craft shops or online - make sure that the eyes are small enough for the animal or the will look out of place - you can always use felt to make eyes. All patterns are ajustable for larger or smaller animals, using squared paper. all instructions for this and the make up of each animal is includded in the pattern with illustrations.
