Norgay D218: A great pattern for a ladies cardigan and a mans jumper knitted in 6ply Norwegian wool. There are instruction for knitting these on two needles as well as on a circular needle.There is a clear chart to follow. 6ply is thicker than double knitting , but not as thick as a chunky yarn.This pattern was produced by Penelope in the late 19690's.As new.

Mary Maxim 415: Vintage pattern for Canada 1961. Knitted in Canadian 4ply which is equivalent to our chunky or Aran wool. Work tension square to find suitable yarn to get size required. This has football motifs, easy to follow clean charts to follow.  The pattern gives English needle sizes. There were 4oz to a skein - approx 116g there is a tension section on the back of pattern. The corner of this one has been nibbled and the edges are a little worn, charts are fine and intructions are given for raglan and set in sleeves.

The sweater has tradition patterns as used in fishing sweaters but knitted in 4ply, try a tension square an see if modern double knitting might work better, remember for this one the fabiric needs to be more solid than normal, so smaller needles are required . The zipper has a fair isle panel across the yoke and down fronts. and is knitted in vintage quickerknit so would probably knit well in modern double knitting, but again work a tension square to see. 1950's.
