Men's Knitting Patterns; - these are rare and difficult to find, but give an interesting period insight to male fashion during the first half of the 20th century.
These patterns are genuine vintage original items, but due to their scarcity some of these patterns are only available as photocopies at present (copyright permitting)

Red Heart 240-405: Great vintage pattern from the USA 1947. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square (gauge in USA patterns, the needle size quoted in pattern is US size 4 which is UK between a 9 and 10 old metric or 3.50mm). Works well in 4ply cotton. Colours used in picture listed as white, navy,, smokey blue, cherry red. To fit size to fit 36"- 40" work in double knitting and size 8 imperial or 4mm to get larger size. Red Heart 240-410: Great vintage easy fair isle from the USA 1947 knitted in vintage 3ply on 12 and 11 imperial or 3.50mm and 3mm to fit 36"-42" chest. Work tension square first(Gauge). More mens fair isle on Mens Fair Isle pages. This one is quite easy and a great introduction. The colour used in the original are beige background with navy and cherry red for the design.
