Bestway 861: Fabulous vintage knitting pattern for a string shopping bag. So retro! and so very practical. There are 2 designs one is knitted the other is crochet. It suggest Macrame twine, but experiment with knitting cotton, no tension square is given but it will not take longe to work a few peices to see how it will work out in different cottons.1940's

Bestway B3156: Fabulous vintage knitting patern for gloves, hat and bag in angora - it takes less than 3oz of angora or less than 90g. Work tenison square to see if you need to use different size needles. Can be knitted in double knitting wool, but again check tension, modern 4ply might work better.The bag closures can still be bought online through ebay or from some craft outlets or you could use wooden handles or a tie top by making a row or holes at the top edge as you knit.See Links page for angora supplier.

Bronte 645: Great pattern with gifts to knit and crochet. There instructions for crochet shopper, and cushion, an knitted aran bag and belt  and tea cosy and knitted teddy - all great ideas for Christmas or that special birthday or thank you gift. Pattern in good condition, with neat ounch holes at edge as shown in the picture, does not interfer with instructions. 1971

Coats & Clark 310: USA 1955: Great book with 10 differnt hats and 6 differnt bags to crochet and two hat to knit. Book is in good condition, with a little wear to edges - a conversion table for needles and hook will be included. The cover design has beads worked into it as do several of the others, you can always sew thes on afterwards.

Copley 1536: Great vintage knitting pattern for a handbag and a cluch bag. It is knitted in a yarn refered to as 'eighty-one', not sure what this was, but if gives a tension  of 7.5 stitches  and 9.5 rows to a square inch in stocking stitch  on size 12 needles - it may have been a cotton type yarn. It will be fund to experiment with different modern yarns.Possibly late 1940's, in good but worn condition with crease across the front but sound and clean.

Emu 3001: Fabulous crochet and knitting pattern for bags and belts and a snood, and a chocker, just right for the coming festive season, worked in glitter cotton, or any fancy yarn that knits to the same tension.  Either bag can be made with a flap or zip fastening if you cannot get the clasps as shown. from the early 1970's in very good condition

Jack Frost 48:  Fabulous vintage book of handbags to CROCHET in various mediums from 1945, in fabulous condition, just a few rust  marks on the back pages and wear to the spine, cover a bit loose, large format, feint crease to front. .32 pages all in black and white. This book is from the USA conversion chart included to imperial and metric hooks.There are no tension instructions so trial and error will be the way to go, using modern synthetic yarns, I know one of these yarns used was a plastic thin ribbon like yarn similar to raffia, another one was more tublular - I am sure there are substitutes out there in this wonderful age of crafts.  Cotton may also work - experiment, have fun with this fabulous book with 27 different bags.Very Collectable. Great for college and university students studying fashion and design from the early part of the 20th Century. See below for some of the patterns, others available, email for details.
